Iran Warns US Will Be Held Responsible for Any Israeli Strike on Nuclear Sites

Iran has issued a stern warning, stating that it will hold the United States accountable for any potential Israeli attack on its nuclear facilities. This comes amid reports that Israel is preparing for a possible military strike on Iranian nuclear sites, as reported by CNN.

Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said in a letter to the United Nations on Thursday that “the US government will also be involved and bear legal responsibility” if Israel attacks.

“Iran strongly warns against any adventurism by the Zionist regime and will respond decisively to any threat or unlawful act by this regime,” Araghchi emphasized.

This warning coincides with a scheduled fifth round of Omani-mediated nuclear talks between Iran and the US, set to take place in Rome on Friday. These are the highest-level contacts between the two nations since the US withdrew from the 2015 nuclear deal in 2018 during Donald Trump’s presidency.

On the same day, Ali Mohammad Naini, spokesperson for the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), warned of a “devastating and decisive response” to any Israeli military action.

“If the delusional Zionist regime commits a foolish act… it will receive a crushing response in its small and vulnerable geography,” he said.

Meanwhile, dozens of pro-government demonstrators gathered near Iran’s Fordow nuclear facility on Thursday, waving national flags and chanting slogans in support of the country’s nuclear program, including:

  • “Nuclear energy is our inalienable right!”

  • “No compromise, no surrender, only confrontation with America!”

Iran does not officially recognize Israel and routinely refers to it as the “Zionist regime.” While the two have been engaged in covert operations for years, they traded direct attacks in 2024 amid rising regional tensions driven by the Gaza war.
