Advocate Kamran Murtaza appeared before the court on behalf of the petitioners. During the hearing, a large number of office bearers and lawyers of the Islamabad Bar Association were also present in the courtroom.
The court approved protective bail for Iman Mazari and Hadi Ali Chatha against surety bonds of Rs 10,000 each. The court directed the police not to arrest Iman Mazari and Hadi Ali Chatha in this case.
During the proceedings, Advocate Kamran Murtaza stated that for the first time a woman had spent the night within the court premises, and he felt the situation had arisen because of him. He said that if there was any previous case, the arrest could have been made earlier.
Kamran Murtaza requested the court to grant protective bail and to direct the police not to arrest the petitioners in any other case until any such case is brought before the court. He said the petitioners are not enemies of the state and that they have the same right in the building as the court.
Justice Azam Khan remarked that the order was being passed only to the extent of the FIR presented before the court. Subsequently, the court approved the protective bail of Iman Mazari and Hadi Ali Chatha and restrained the police from arresting them in this case.
