A scorching spell grips Karachi as the city faces three consecutive days of intense heat, dry winds, and strong UV radiation.
three-day stretch of intense heat and sunshine, with the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) warning residents to take necessary precautions against high temperatures and strong ultraviolet (UV) radiation.
According to the latest forecast, from Monday, October 20 to Wednesday, October 22, the city will experience persistent hot and dry conditions. On Monday, temperatures are predicted to reach a high of 37°C and a low of 22°C, while the RealFeel temperature could climb to 39°C. Northwesterly winds at 11 km/h and a UV Index of 6 indicate moderate to high exposure risk during midday hours.
The heat is expected to intensify on Tuesday, with temperatures peaking at 38°C and dropping slightly to 23°C at night. Easterly winds at 9 km/h will offer little relief, and the UV Index will remain at 6, prompting continued advisories to limit outdoor activities, particularly for children, the elderly, and outdoor workers.
By Wednesday, the pattern of hot and sunny weather will persist, with highs of 38°C and lows of 22°C. Winds will shift to the northeast at 13 km/h, while the RealFeel temperature stays near 38°C. The UV Index will again hold steady at 6, maintaining the risk of sunburn and dehydration.
Meteorologists have urged citizens to stay hydrated, avoid prolonged sun exposure, and wear light, breathable clothing. The PMD has also advised people to check on vulnerable individuals, as the combination of high heat and strong UV rays could lead to heat-related illnesses.
The ongoing dry and hot spell marks one of the season’s most intense surges, highlighting the city’s growing exposure to extreme weather conditions amid shifting climate patterns.
