KARACHI – Shocking details have emerged about the tragic incident at Do Darya, where a man reportedly jumped into the sea with his two children in an apparent suicide attempt.
Eyewitnesses stated that a 40-year-old man, later identified as Aurangzeb Alam, jumped into the sea with his son Ahmed (8) and daughter Ayat (4). Rescue teams recovered the bodies of both children during the operation, while the search for the father is still underway.
Aurangzeb Alam, a resident of Gabool Goth, Sector 8.5 of Orangi Town, was a schoolteacher at a private Islamic school, known to many as “Shar Alam.” According to family sources, Aurangzeb had filed a legal petition for the custody of his children due to ongoing domestic issues. However, just a day before the incident, custody was granted to his wife.
While initial reports suggest suicide, the deceased’s family has strongly rejected this claim. His brother, Sagheer Alam, stated that Aurangzeb was a responsible and loving father of three, deeply devoted to his children, and could never take such a drastic step. One of his children remains with the mother.
The family expressed disbelief and heartbreak over the incident. Aurangzeb’s mother’s health reportedly deteriorated after learning of the tragedy, especially once the children’s bodies were recovered, extinguishing any remaining hope.
The family described Aurangzeb as an educated, emotionally sensitive man who often suffered silently through distressing situations. They acknowledged existing family disputes and communication barriers with the eldest brother, but emphasized ongoing reconciliation efforts between Aurangzeb and his wife. The last time they met him was at court, where he expressed optimism about resolving issues.
The incident has left the community and loved ones in deep mourning, as questions remain about what truly led to this heartbreaking event.
