A disturbing video circulating on social media has triggered a police investigation in Karachi after a young man was filmed being brutally assaulted and forced to eat his own shorn hair in the upscale Defence Housing Authority (DHA) area.
The footage shows the victim, identified as a local resident, pinned down by a group of men. One assailant is seen using scissors to cut the victim’s hair before shoving handfuls of it into his mouth while others laugh and film the ordeal. The attackers reportedly accused the man of theft, though police have yet to confirm any formal complaint or evidence supporting these claims.
The victim’s family has since filed a First Information Report (FIR) at the Darakhshan police station. They allege the attackers are influential individuals who operate with a sense of impunity in the posh neighborhood.
“We are tracking the suspects through the video evidence and their digital footprints,” a senior police officer told reporters on the condition of anonymity. He confirmed that raids are underway at several locations, though no arrests have been made as of Tuesday morning.
The incident has sparked widespread outrage across social media platforms, with citizens calling for the immediate arrest of the perpetrators. It highlights a recurring pattern of “vigilante justice” in Karachi, where private individuals bypass the legal system to settle scores or punish perceived wrongdoings.
