With the increase in cold weather in Karachi, cases of respiratory diseases have started to rise. The President of the Pakistan Pediatrics Association said that dry cold has led to an increase in pneumonia and respiratory tract infections among children.

‎The President of the Pediatrics Association said that more than 60 percent of children are coming to OPDs daily, out of which 20 to 30 percent need to be hospitalized.

‎He said that health problems are increasing due to environmental pollution and advised parents to dress children in warm clothes and protect them from cold air.

‎He further advised parents to keep children away from dust, smoke, and polluted environments, and to consult a doctor immediately in case of cough, fever, or breathing difficulties.

‎It is worth noting that Karachi remains under the grip of cold weather today as well, with the city’s minimum temperature recorded at 6 degrees Celsius.
