PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police has compiled annual data showing that 955 militants were killed in security operations across the province during the ongoing year, according to a report issued by the Central Police Office.
The report states that police and the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) eliminated 423 militants in various intelligence-based operations, while 532 militants were killed by security forces during separate encounters and operations.
A significant quantity of arms and ammunition was also recovered from the militants during these actions.
The Central Police Office further revealed that 33 key militant commanders were among those neutralized. The slain individuals belonged to several districts, including North and South Waziristan, Bannu, Dera Ismail Khan, Mardan, and Kohat.
According to the report, the highest number of militants were killed in Bannu, D.I. Khan, North and South Waziristan, and Khyber district, while operations in Kurram, Orakzai, and Malakand also resulted in the killing of several high-profile commanders.
