Lahore: Polio Virus Detected Again in City’s Sewage

The presence of the polio virus has once again been confirmed in the city’s sewage system, triggering concern among residents. According to sources, the virus was found in a sewage sample collected from the Outfall Road disposal station.

‎These samples were collected during April and sent to the National Institute of Health for analysis, where the report confirmed the presence of the polio virus in one sample.

‎According to experts, the presence of the virus in sewage indicates that the virus is still circulating in the community, even if no clear polio cases have been reported. This situation has also raised questions about the effectiveness of the ongoing anti polio campaign in the city.

‎It is worth mentioning that campaigns to administer polio drops to children are being regularly carried out across the country, including Lahore. However, despite this, the presence of the virus indicates that vaccination coverage has not been ensured for all children.

‎Members of the public have also raised questions about the performance of officials associated with the polio program, stating that despite high salaries, the desired results are not being achieved.
