In Lahore, police have arrested a suspected phone snatcher following an encounter that left the accused injured, officials confirmed on Saturday.
According to police sources, the incident occurred during a routine patrol when officers attempted to stop a suspicious individual allegedly involved in recent mobile phone snatching incidents. The suspect reportedly tried to flee the scene, leading to a brief chase.
Officials said the situation escalated when the suspect opened fire at the police party, prompting officers to retaliate. During the exchange, the accused sustained injuries and was subsequently overpowered and taken into custody.
The injured suspect was shifted to a nearby hospital for medical treatment under police custody. Authorities have also recovered a weapon and a snatched mobile phone from his possession, strengthening the case against him.
Police stated that further investigation is underway to determine the suspect’s involvement in other street crime incidents across the city. Law enforcement agencies have reiterated their commitment to curbing rising cases of street crime and ensuring public safety.
