Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has reportedly removed the Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Jhelum following controversy over the postponement of examinations ahead of her scheduled visit to the district. The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Rawalpindi postponed the Intermediate Second Annual Examination 2026 Computer Science papers scheduled for November 10 after receiving a recommendation from the Jhelum district administration.
According to reports, the deputy commissioner had requested the postponement, explaining that administrative, security and protocol arrangements for the chief minister’s expected visit to Jhelum and Pind Dadan Khan could affect the smooth conduct of examinations. Following the request, the board rescheduled both morning and evening Computer Science papers for November 30, 2026. The decision applies only to examination centres in Jhelum, while papers in other districts will take place according to the original schedule.
The decision has raised concerns about the impact of official visits on students and their educational activities. BISE Rawalpindi has announced that fresh roll number slips will be issued to affected students, although previously issued slips will also remain valid. The reported removal of the deputy commissioner has drawn attention to administrative responsibility and the importance of protecting students’ examination schedules from unnecessary disruption.
