ISLAMABAD: The federal government has announced fresh petroleum prices for October 6, raising the petrol rate while providing a reduction in the price of high-speed diesel (HSD).
According to a notification issued by the Petroleum Division on Monday, petrol has been increased by Re0.88 per litre, taking its new price to Rs393.64 per litre. High-speed diesel, meanwhile, has become cheaper by Rs1.88 per litre and will now be available at Rs397.76 per litre.
The revised rates will apply from Tuesday, October 6. The latest adjustment comes as Pakistan continues to revise domestic fuel prices frequently in response to fluctuations in international petroleum markets.
The government shifted to daily fuel price determination earlier this year following heightened volatility in global oil markets linked to tensions in the Middle East. Under the revised mechanism, the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) determines petroleum prices based on movements in international markets.
Changes in petrol and diesel rates have broader implications for consumers and businesses, with petrol widely used by private vehicles and motorcycles while high-speed diesel is a key fuel for commercial transport and other sectors of the economy.
