Kandiwal police on Thursday arrested a man for sheltering a proclaimed offender wanted in a murder case.
According to police sources, the accused provided shelter and food to the fugitive at his camp. Acting on a tip-off, police raided the location. While the proclaimed offender managed to escape, the man giving him refuge was arrested on the spot.
A case has been registered at Kandiwal police station under Section 216A for harboring a proclaimed offender, which carries punishment under the law.
Police officials said strict action will be taken against those who support or hide criminals. Citizens have been urged to report suspicious activity or the presence of wanted individuals by calling police helpline 15.
