ISLAMABAD, July 3, 2025: The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) have formally issued a notification of Medical and Dental Colleges Admission Test (MDCAT) on Sunday, October 5, 2025.
This announcement was made in a meeting of national assembly standing committee on national health services headed by Dr. Mahesh Kumar Malani. PMDC delegates provided detailed information as to the test format and recent developments.
According to the President of PMDC Dr. Rizwan Taj, five major subjects of the updated MDCAT will be Biology, Chemistry, Physics, English and Logical Reasoning. The examination will have 180 MCQs with three-hours time allocation and no negative marking. There will be breakdown of difficulty in the paper, 15 percent easy, 70 percent moderate, and 15 percent difficult questions.
To join medical colleges, candidates should score at least 55 percent mark and dental colleges 50 percent mark. PMDC is also in the process of developing a national level question bank. The new syllabus was prepared with active participation by educational boards, the experts and universities.
Through these updates, it is expected to provide a transparent, fair and uniform examination process to the students who want to pursue medical and dental courses in Pakistan.
