After a frosty start to the day, conditions are set to warm up across the D.C. area this Friday. The National Weather Service’s frost advisory will expire at 8 a.m., clearing the way for milder temperatures climbing into the lower to mid 60s by afternoon.

Meteorologists from the Capital Weather Gang report that winds will pick up through the day, bringing occasional gusts and increasing cloud cover. Despite the breezy conditions, it’ll feel relatively comfortable compared to the chilly start.

Looking ahead, the weekend promises unseasonably warm weather, with highs potentially reaching the upper 60s to near 70 degrees under partly sunny skies. However, forecasters warn that the mild stretch won’t last long. A sharp change is expected early next week as a wintry system could bring colder air and possibly the season’s first flakes in some areas.
