The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) forecasts continued intense rainfall from tonight until July 17 across multiple regions. Expect widespread downpours in Punjab, Islamabad, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Kashmir, with localized heavy rains, thunder, and gusty winds in northeastern/southern Balochistan, southeastern/uplands of Sindh, and Gilgit-Baltistan.
Flash flooding is expected in Dera Ghazi Khan, northeastern/uplands Punjab, Islamabad/Rawalpindi, northeastern Balochistan, Kashmir, Chitral, Dir, Swat, Shangla, Mansehra, Murree, Galyat, Kohistan, Abbottabad, Buner, Swabi, Nowshera, and Mardan. In low-lying areas, including Gujranwala, Lahore, Sialkot, Sargodha, Faisalabad, Multan, Khanewal, Sahiwal, Lodhran, Muzaffargarh, Kot Adu, Taunsa, Rajanpur, Bahawalpur, Nowshera, Peshawar, Islamabad/Rawalpindi, severe flash floods may occur. Strong winds pose additional threats to power lines, trees, vehicles, and solar panels, and standing crops are at serious risk.
Bhawalnagar registered the highest rainfall in Punjab over the past 24 hours, measuring 86 mm. The NDMA warns that in the next 2–3 days, heavy rains could trigger urban flooding and turbulent flows in streams and nullahs across the country. Between Rawalpindi, Sargodha, Faisalabad, Sahiwal, Chiniot, Toba Tek Singh, Narowal, Okara, Jhang, Bhawalnagar, Multan, Khanewal, and Bahawalpur, wind storms and heavy rainfall are expected within 12–24 hours.
Islamabad and surrounding areas will also experience heavy showers. From July 15 to 18, urban flooding is anticipated in Lahore, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Muzaffargarh, Sahiwal, Multan, Kot Adu, Taunsa, and Bahawalpur. Flash floods may affect hill torrents and streams in Rajanpur and Dera Ghazi Khan, while excessive flow in watercourses originating from the Pir Panjal range is also possible.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, particularly in Chitral, Dir, Swat, Kalam, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Mardan, Peshawar, Kohat, Bannu, and areas of former FATA, the NDMA warns of heavy rains and possible landslides over the next 24 hours. It advises residents in sensitive zones to prepare emergency kits with 3–5 days’ supply of food, water, and medicines in case of urgent evacuation.
