Flood Warning Issued:

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has warned that the water level at Guddu Barrage on the Indus River is expected to reach “very high” flood levels within the next 48 hours. Authorities are closely monitoring the situation to prevent major damage.

Affected Areas:

Low-lying districts downstream of the barrage could face flooding, potentially impacting thousands of residents. Emergency management teams have been put on high alert to assist with evacuations if needed.

Precautionary Measures:

Officials are advising local communities to stay alert and follow instructions from district authorities. Relief camps and rescue teams are being prepared in vulnerable areas.

River Levels Elsewhere:

While Guddu Barrage faces “very high” water levels, other major barrages along the Indus are showing moderate increases, with authorities continuing regular monitoring to mitigate risks.

Government Response:

Federal and provincial authorities are coordinating to provide timely alerts, ensure safe evacuation routes, and prepare emergency resources in flood-districts.
