More Than 50,000 Dog Bite Cases Reported in One Year at Three Major Hospitals in Karachi

More than 50,000 dog bite cases were reported this year at only three hospitals in Karachi. According to the report, 18,000 cases were reported at Jinnah Hospital, 16,000 at Civil Hospital, and 17,000 at Indus Hospital Korangi during the current year.

‎Figures from other hospitals are different. In addition, 22 people across the province died after contracting rabies this year.

‎Sindh government spokesperson Syeda Tahseen Abidi said that more than 30,000 stray dogs have been vaccinated in different districts of Karachi, and anti rabies vaccines are available at hospitals and emergency centers.

‎Citizens are advised to contact the helpline 1093 in any such situation. Treatment of the affected person will be provided free of cost at the government level.
