LAHORE — Police have formally named the mother as the primary suspect in the brutal killing of her three children in Lahore’s Ichhra neighborhood. Investigators say the evidence collected from the scene points directly to her involvement, marking a grim turn in a case that has shocked the city.
The children—two daughters and a son—were found dead in their home earlier this week. Initial reports suggested a struggle, but forensic teams and investigators have since shifted their focus to the mother’s movements and statements.
Senior police officials confirmed the development during a briefing Tuesday. They stated that the mother’s initial account of the events failed to align with the forensic findings and digital evidence gathered by the crime scene unit.
“The narrative she provided didn’t hold up under scrutiny,” a lead investigator said. “We have moved beyond treating her as a grieving parent and are now questioning her as the person responsible for these deaths.”
The case gained public attention due to the domestic circumstances surrounding the family. Neighbors described the household as generally quiet, making the discovery of the children’s bodies particularly jarring for the local community. Police are now working to establish a motive, looking into the family’s financial history and potential domestic disputes that may have escalated to such a violent end.
The bodies were moved to the morgue for post-mortem examinations, which investigators believe provided the “crucial link” between the crime scene and the suspect. While the investigation remains ongoing, police say they are not looking for any other suspects at this time.
The mother remains in custody, where she is currently facing intensive interrogation. Authorities expect to present her before a local court within the next 24 hours to secure physical remand for further questioning.
For the family and the residents of Ichhra, the focus now shifts to the courtroom, where prosecutors must prove how a domestic space turned into a crime scene.
