The Health Department has released statistics regarding the Mpox situation in Sindh.
According to the Health Department, a total of 122 suspected cases of Mpox have been reported in the province so far, while 25 cases have been confirmed and 9 deaths have occurred.
In the last 24 hours, 2 more cases have been reported, one from Karachi and one from Khairpur.
The highest number of cases have been confirmed from district Khairpur with 18 cases, followed by Sukkur with 3 and Karachi with 4 cases, due to which immediate isolation wards have been established in all major hospitals.
According to the Health Department, an integrated system for the transportation of samples and surveillance units has been activated, while contact tracing of medical staff and close contacts of affected individuals is ongoing.
Strict enforcement of infection control and sterilization of equipment has been directed in hospitals, while efforts have been intensified to identify active cases in affected areas.
The Health Department has said that the public and medical staff should strictly follow precautionary measures and seek immediate medical attention if symptoms appear, while special care should be taken of newborn children.
