MQM-P Bahadurabad Clash: Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui Says Worker Sustained Bullet Injuries

Karachi, August 3, 2026: Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) Convener Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui has confirmed that a party worker sustained bullet injuries during a violent clash between rival groups at the party’s Bahadurabad headquarters in Karachi. He described the incident as an unfortunate result of a misunderstanding among party workers and appealed for unity within the party.

The confrontation erupted during a party meeting attended by senior MQM-P leaders. According to witnesses and police officials, a heated exchange between supporters of two rival factions quickly escalated into physical fighting, stone-pelting, and gunfire, leaving several workers injured. One worker suffered a bullet wound and was shifted to hospital for medical treatment.

Speaking after the incident, Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui said the party leadership had reviewed the situation and efforts were underway to restore normalcy. He urged workers to remain disciplined and avoid actions that could damage the party’s unity and reputation. He emphasized that internal differences should be resolved through dialogue rather than violence.

Police officials said security personnel reached the scene shortly after the violence broke out and brought the situation under control. Despite the seriousness of the incident, no formal complaint had been registered immediately after the clash. Authorities have begun gathering information and reviewing available evidence to determine the circumstances that led to the confrontation.

Media reports said the clash reflected ongoing tensions between rival groups within MQM-P, which have been holding separate meetings and public events in recent months. The violence also disrupted the party meeting and raised concerns over the growing internal divisions.

The MQM-P leadership has called for restraint and reconciliation, expressing hope that the differences among party workers will be resolved peacefully. Party leaders said maintaining unity remains their top priority as investigations into the incident continue.
