ISLAMABAD – The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has imposed heavy fines worth millions of rupees on three electricity distribution companies after finding serious violations in service delivery and system management.
According to officials, the penalties were placed due to repeated complaints from consumers regarding prolonged outages, delayed fault repairs, and failure to follow safety standards. NEPRA stated that the action was taken to ensure accountability and to push companies toward improving performance.
Consumers have welcomed the move, hoping it will compel power companies to upgrade their systems and provide more reliable electricity during the winter season. Industry experts say the fines send a strong message that negligence and poor customer service will no longer be tolerated.
