New York — Former U.S. President Barack Obama has assured his support for Zohran Mamdani in the upcoming New York mayoral election, marking a significant boost for the progressive candidate’s campaign.

According to local media reports, Obama’s team expressed confidence in Mamdani’s leadership vision, especially his focus on community empowerment, economic justice, and inclusive governance. Political observers say Obama’s backing could help mobilize young and diverse voters in the city, strengthening Mamdani’s standing ahead of the polls.

Mamdani, a well-known community advocate, welcomed the gesture and vowed to continue his efforts for a fair and representative city administration.
