The Embassy of Pakistan in Qatar is expected to launch e-passport services on October 15, 2026, according to the reported news.
The initiative is aimed at facilitating Pakistani citizens living in Qatar by providing access to Pakistan’s electronic passport system.
An e-passport contains an electronic chip that stores the passport holder’s personal and biometric information. This technology helps authorities verify a traveller’s identity electronically and supports modern international travel standards.
The development comes as Pakistan moves towards a fully electronic passport system. Reports indicate that from October 15, 2026, Pakistan will transition away from issuing traditional machine-readable passports for new applications, with existing passports remaining valid until their expiry dates.
Pakistani citizens living in Qatar are advised to follow official announcements from the embassy for confirmed service availability, application requirements, fees and processing procedures.
