The Government of Pakistan, in collaboration with the World Health Organization (WHO), is set to establish 26 new vaccination centres across the country, aiming to serve over 750,000 people in underserved regions.

‎‎According to a press release, the initiative is being funded by GAVI, the Vaccine Alliance, and will offer essential healthcare services and life-saving vaccines to communities with limited access to medical facilities.

‎‎Currently, 13 prefabricated centres are already operational in Punjab, Pakistan-administered Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan. The remaining 13 centres, now in the procurement stage, will be built in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

‎‎These centres are strategically located in areas with low vaccination coverage and poor access to basic health services. Equipped with solar power, they will remain functional during power outages and natural disasters, contributing to climate resilience.

‎‎This partnership seeks to strengthen Pakistan’s Expanded Programme on Immunization and ensure healthcare access for the most vulnerable populations. WHO’s Representative in Pakistan, Dr. Dapeng Luo, highlighted the significance of inclusive healthcare and the need to reach all communities, especially during emergencies.
