ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has taken notice of the failure to activate the CT Angiography facility at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) and ordered an inquiry into the matter.
The prime minister has constituted an inquiry committee to determine the facts, identify those responsible and submit a detailed report.
The Secretary of the Establishment Division has been appointed chairman of the committee.
The committee will examine the technical capacity for angiography that has been available at PIMS since 2022 and review records of all angiography procedures conducted at the hospital during the same period.
It will also assess the coordination, referral and communication mechanisms between the cardiology and radiology departments.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed that strict legal action be taken against those found responsible in light of the committee’s findings.
The National Health Services Division will provide the necessary assistance to the inquiry committee during the investigation.
