Polio Virus Detected in Environmental Samples from All 7 Districts of Karachi

Polio virus has been detected in environmental samples collected from all seven districts of Karachi.

‎According to sources from the Ministry of Health, a total of 78 environmental samples were collected from various locations across the city’s seven districts, including 24 from District East, 15 from Keamari, and 14 from South District.

‎Sources further stated that 7 samples were taken from Korangi, 7 from Malir, 6 from Central, and 5 from West District. After testing, all environmental samples were found to be positive for the poliovirus.

‎Meanwhile, according to a spokesperson for the Emergency Operation Center, the national anti-polio campaign will begin on September 1st.

‎The spokesperson added that no polio case has been reported in the city so far and appealed to parents to ensure their children receive polio vaccination drops.
