Lahore: Senior Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Dr Yasmin Rashid was moved to Services Hospital on Tuesday after her health suddenly worsened while in jail.
According to her lawyer, Rana Mudsar Advocate, Dr Rashid was taken to the emergency ward due to serious breathing problems and severe stomach pain. Doctors are closely monitoring her condition, reported Dunya News.
Dr Yasmin Rashid has been in jail since May 12, 2023, after being arrested under the Maintenance of Public Order (MPO) law following the May 9 incidents.
Although the Lahore High Court ordered her release on May 13, she was re-arrested just hours later in three more cases, including the Jinnah House attack case.
Despite several legal attempts, Dr Rashid remains in prison and is facing multiple court trials.
PTI members and human rights activists have raised concerns about the 74-year-old leader’s health and the lack of proper medical care during her time in custody. They are urging the authorities to provide better treatment and immediate relief on humanitarian grounds.
So far, prison officials have not released any official update on her current medical condition.
