The Punjab cabinet, led by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, has approved the recruitment of School Teacher Interns in government schools across the province, aiming to strengthen the education sector. The decision was taken during a cabinet meeting held in Lahore.
In a key public relief measure, the cabinet rejected a proposal to increase fares for electric buses in Multan, Rawalpindi, and Lahore. Instead, grants were approved for the Punjab Transport Company to set up electric depots in multiple cities to support expansion of the e-bus network.
The meeting also approved the Punjab Protection of Ownership of Immovable Property Ordinance 2025 and a subsidy program under the Chief Minister High-Tech Farm Mechanization Finance Program to boost agricultural support.
To improve road discipline, the cabinet endorsed a traffic fine and point system. It also allocated funds for building a museum and memorial at National Bank Park and approved a master plan for restoration and upgrading of the Lahore Museum.
Other decisions included reallocating funds for the Green Pakistan Program, establishing the University of Hafizabad, and empowering district-level officials under the Punjab Consumer Protection Act for improved implementation.
