LAHORE: The Punjab School Education Department has directed schools across the province to verify and update the B-Form numbers of all students within 10 days to improve the accuracy of school records and prevent fake student enrolments.
Under the new instructions, school heads must ensure that students’ B-Form numbers are correctly entered into school records and verified against the official database of the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA). Any missing or incorrect information must be corrected within the specified deadline.
School Heads to Be Held Responsible for Errors
The department has made school heads responsible for ensuring the accuracy of student information. If incorrect B-Form entries result in additional verification or correction costs, the concerned school head will be required to bear those expenses.
The measure aims to address concerns about inaccurate student enrolment figures, including cases in which schools allegedly recorded students using incorrect or forged identification details.
Alternative for Students Without B-Forms
The department has also clarified that children who do not have a B-Form must not be denied admission to school.
In such cases, schools have been instructed to temporarily enter the father’s Computerised National Identity Card (CNIC) number in the student’s record, allowing the admission process to continue while the required documentation is addressed.
Schools Directed to Complete Records on Time
School administrations have been instructed to review student records carefully and complete all required entries and corrections within 10 days. The verification process is intended to improve transparency, strengthen student data management and ensure that school enrolment records match official identity information.
The directive places responsibility on school heads to maintain accurate records while ensuring that children are not deprived of education because they lack a B-Form.
The initiative is part of broader efforts to improve the reliability of student data and reduce discrepancies in school enrolment records across Punjab.
