Veteran Pakistani television actor Rashid Mehmood was assaulted by a group of unknown men on the motorway while en route to Rahim Yar Khan from Lahore, following a traffic mishap involving a motorcycle.
The actor, known for his prominent roles in classic PTV dramas, shared a video on TikTok showing visible facial injuries. In the video, he said he accidentally took a wrong turn, after which a speeding motorbike collided with his vehicle. Moments later, multiple men began beating him.
“They punched me, took my ID card, and damaged my car. They didn’t know who I was — they even tried to drag me away,” Mehmood said.
He further added that a passerby intervened and recognized him, preventing further harm. The actor managed to escape and reported the incident to police by calling emergency helpline 15.
While the attackers fled, no formal police statement has been released yet.
The disturbing video has triggered outrage on social media, with fans, actors, and media figures demanding action. Many have condemned the increasing insecurity on roads and called for better safety measures for travelers.
