Saudi Arabia has officially launched its new national carrier, Riyadh Air, despite ongoing conflict in the Middle East and challenges facing the global aviation industry.

Saudi officials said the airline launch is part of the kingdom’s Vision 2030 economic reform programme, which aims to diversify the economy beyond oil, promote tourism, and establish Saudi Arabia as a major international aviation hub.

According to officials, Riyadh Air is expected to operate flights to numerous global destinations and help increase passenger traffic through Riyadh. The airline will focus on modern aviation technology, premium passenger services, and stronger international connectivity.

The launch comes as the aviation sector continues to face aircraft delivery delays, supply chain disruptions, and rising regional geopolitical tensions. Despite these challenges, Saudi authorities expressed confidence that Riyadh Air will contribute significantly to economic growth, tourism expansion, and job creation in the kingdom.

Industry analysts believe the airline’s launch reflects Saudi Arabia’s long-term ambitions to compete with major Gulf carriers and strengthen its position in the global aviation market.
