KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Saturday dismissed all petitions filed by K-Electric against the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA), declaring them non-maintainable.
During the hearing, the court listened to arguments from both sides before ruling that K-Electric’s petitions could not be heard. The court also sought K-Electric’s business plan for review.
K-Electric’s counsel argued that NEPRA had determined the tariff and multi-year tariff for the period 2024 to 2030, against which the Ministry of Energy filed a review request. However, NEPRA allegedly converted that review into an appeal and reserved its verdict.
The counsel further contended that the Ministry of Energy cannot file an appeal without approval from the federal cabinet, and NEPRA has no authority to convert a review into an appeal. He added that the company had not been provided with NEPRA’s written order and that objections raised by K-Electric had not been addressed.
