South Africa pulled off a stunning run-chase in Raipur, defeating India by four wickets in the second ODI after hunting down a massive 359-run target with four balls to spare. India had posted 358/5, but the Proteas responded with composure and power to seal a memorable win.
Chasing 359, South Africa suffered an early setback when Tony de Zorzi retired hurt, but skipper Temba Bavuma kept the innings steady with a crucial 46 off 48 balls. Tristan Breedtze followed with a solid 68 off 64 deliveries, keeping the scoreboard moving.
The game flipped dramatically when Dewald Brevis exploded—smashing 54 off just 34 balls, including five sixes, dismantling India’s bowling attack and shifting full control to South Africa.
Despite Marco Jansen falling cheaply, Corbin Bosch played the perfect finisher’s role, hammering 26 off 15 balls to take the Proteas home. Keshav Maharaj remained unbeaten on 10 as South Africa crossed the line at 359/6 in 49.2 overs.
For India, Arshdeep Singh, Harshit Rana and Prasidh Krishna picked up two wickets each, but none could prevent the assault in the final overs.
This victory gives South Africa a major boost, exposing India’s bowling struggles once again in high-scoring pressure games.
