A storm alert has been issued for Karachi as heavy monsoon rains are forecasted, and advance preparations have been completed. According to details, the arrival of the monsoon season is expected to bring intense rainfall to the city.
In this context, the Karachi Port Trust (KPT) has declared a high alert, ensuring all necessary preemptive measures are in place. As per the issued alert, ships will be safely berthed, and continuous monitoring will be conducted at the port.
KPT officials stated that mooring lines have been properly set, and immediate assistance through tugs has been arranged. Additionally, standby high-pilot services have been provided to ensure vessel departures into deep sea during harsh weather.
Furthermore, small boats will be berthed at locations where wind pressure and sea water pressure are lower, and all dredgers and barges have been securely fastened as part of the preparations
