For the first time at Jinnah Hospital Karachi, a successful surgery was performed to implant an artificial knee in a cancer patient.
According to details, a successful knee cancer surgery was conducted at Jinnah Hospital, costing 3.5 million rupees, but it was provided completely free of charge. For the first time, an artificial knee was implanted in a cancer patient.
A 26-year-old young man was given a new life with the artificial knee. Dr. Farrukh stated that this is the first artificial knee cancer surgery in the history of Jinnah Hospital.
The four hour long surgery was carried out by Dr. Farrukh, Dr. Muzaffar, Dr. Wali, Dr. Shahid, and Dr. Khushhal. The plastic surgery team included Dr. Agha Waseem, Dr. Mehak, Dr. Komal, and Dr. Farooq.
Dr. Farrukh explained that the patient had cancer in the knee and below the leg. After the surgery, all of the patient’s tests came back normal, and there is no longer any trace of cancer in the body.
According to Dr. Farrukh, the cost of an artificial knee is between 1 to 1.1 million rupees, which was provided free of charge by Jinnah Hospital. He added that this artificial knee, used worldwide, remains effective for 20 to 25 years.
