Federal Minister and PML-N Khyber Pakhtunkhwa President, Engineer Amir Muqam, has strongly criticized the provincial government for allegedly targeting people’s legal properties under the guise of an anti-encroachment operation following the tragic Swat incident.
In a statement, Amir Muqam condemned the operation, claiming that under the pretext of removing encroachments, the government is causing damage to legitimate, legally owned properties in the region. He accused the provincial administration of creating a crisis that is “destroying tourism” merely to cover up its own failures, calling the situation both “regrettable and shameful.”
The federal minister revealed that even his own legally owned hotel was not spared. “Demolishing the boundary wall of my hotel is nothing but political revenge and a desperate attempt to divert attention from the real issues,” Muqam said. He maintained that all legal documents, ownership papers, NOC, and approved maps for his hotel are intact and properly sanctioned by relevant authorities, adding that he will pursue legal action against this move.
Expressing solidarity with other victims of the operation, Muqam said, “I stand with people like Haji Jalat Khan and all others who have been wronged. Targeting their rightful properties is an act of injustice that cannot be justified.”
The provincial government has not yet responded to the allegations. However, the anti-encroachment drive continues in Swat amid growing criticism from opposition parties and affected locals.
