Three children found slain in Lahore’s Ichhra area as police question family members

A deeply disturbing case has shaken Lahore after three young siblings were found dead inside their home in the Ichhra area on Thursday, April 23, 2026, with police saying their throats appeared to have been slit with a sharp-edged weapon. Initial reporting identified the children as five-year-old Momina Batool, four-year-old Momin Raza, and one-and-a-half-year-old Umme Habiba. The killings took place in a flat near Shah Jamal’s Mashallah Plaza, according to multiple local reports.

What makes the case even more unsettling is the uncertainty around what happened in those last few minutes before the bodies were discovered. Police told local media that the children’s father had stepped out briefly, reportedly to buy medicine from a nearby pharmacy, after locking the apartment. When he returned, he found the children dead inside. Another local report said both parents had gone out for a short time before making the discovery. Investigators are still working to reconcile those differing accounts.

Police and rescue teams reached the scene soon after the emergency call, collected evidence, and shifted the bodies for post-mortem examination. Officials say the early inquiry has not settled on a motive, and the case remains under active investigation. That, frankly, is where the story still is: a brutal crime, very young victims, and far more questions than answers.

Investigators have taken the children’s parents and an uncle into custody for questioning after saying their statements contained contradictions. So far, authorities have not publicly announced formal charges in the material reviewed, and police have not released a clear theory explaining who carried out the attack or how the killer got access to the locked home described in early reporting.

The case has quickly drawn public attention in Pakistan because of the ages of the victims and the apparent violence involved. For now, the post-mortem findings and forensic examination of the crime scene are likely to shape the next phase of the investigation. Until those results are made public, much of the most important part of the story remains unresolved.
