Two suspected bandits were killed in an alleged police encounter in Sukkur, according to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Sukkur.
Police said the slain suspects, identified as Sultan Shah and his son, were killed during an exchange of fire, while one police officer sustained injuries in the operation.
According to officials, Sultan Shah was a notorious criminal wanted in more than 48 cases of police encounters and robberies. The Sindh government had placed a bounty of Rs 2 million on his head.
Authorities added that Sultan Shah had previously surrendered under the provincial amnesty policy but resumed criminal activities after being released from jail. The suspects were allegedly involved in a recent robbery in Rohri, during which a child was injured.
Police officials reiterated that any individual who returns to criminal activities after surrendering under the government’s rehabilitation policy would be dealt with strictly.
