Pakistan secured “military success over India” during the May clashes, according to a report submitted to the US Congress, which states that Islamabad downed multiple Indian fighter jets including Rafales using advanced Chinese supplied weaponry. The US-China Economic and Security Review Commission detailed Pakistan’s combat use of China’s HQ-9 air-defence system, PL-15 missiles, and J-10C jets, noting Islamabad’s claim of shooting down seven Indian aircraft.
The report also said the conflict featured the deepest cross-border strikes in five decades and became a major boost for China’s defence sales. Following the clashes, Beijing reportedly offered Pakistan 40 J-35 fighters, KJ-500 surveillance aircraft, and missile defence systems.
It added that the hostilities began after Indian strikes inside Pakistan in response to a deadly attack in Pahalgam, IIOJK.
