Why Do Stroke and Heart Attack Occur? Experts Reveal Four Major Causes

In recent times, cases of stroke and heart attack have increased at an alarming rate, which can prove fatal if ignored.

‎These diseases are no longer limited to the elderly; young and middle-aged individuals are also increasingly falling victim to them. The biggest reason is our changing lifestyle, which is negatively affecting both physical and mental health.

‎The fast pace of modern life has placed people under constant stress, including lack of sleep, irregular meals, continuous screen time, and a lack of physical activity.

‎All these factors combined cause serious damage to health. Stroke was once considered a disease of old age, but due to rising stress and an imbalanced routine, it is now being seen in people of all ages.

‎What Is Stroke and How Does It Occur?

‎A stroke occurs when blood supply to the brain is disrupted or when a blood vessel in the brain ruptures. As a result, brain cells do not receive oxygen, which can lead to permanent disability or even death. Certain wrong habits in our daily lives significantly increase this risk.

‎1: High Blood Pressure: The Biggest Cause of Stroke:

‎According to health experts and NHS.UK, high blood pressure is the root cause of many serious diseases. Elevated blood pressure damages arteries, making them narrow and weak, which increases the risk of ischemic or hemorrhagic stroke. Since high blood pressure often has no symptoms, regular monitoring is extremely important.

‎2: Unhealthy Diet and Poor Lifestyle:

‎Due to busy routines, people have shifted from home-cooked meals to fast food. These foods, rich in oil, salt, and spices, are high in trans fats and cholesterol, which cause blockages in arteries and reduce blood flow. Along with this, lack of sleep and physical inactivity further increase the risk of stroke.

‎3: Smoking and Alcohol Consumption:

‎The habit of smoking and drinking alcohol at a young age is extremely harmful to health. Cigarette smoke weakens blood vessels and thickens the blood, increasing the chances of blockage. Alcohol consumption raises blood pressure. Together, these habits can cause life-threatening conditions like stroke even in younger individuals.

‎4: Mental Stress: The Invisible Enemy:

‎Constant mental stress increases the level of cortisol hormone in the body, which affects blood pressure and blood sugar. Individuals who remain under stress for long periods are at a higher risk of stroke. Mental peace and relaxation are essential not only for the brain but also for the heart and blood vessels.

‎Other Factors That Increase Stroke Risk:

‎In addition to these major causes, increasing age, family medical history, prolonged exposure to polluted environments, and certain viral infections can also raise the risk of stroke. Controlling these factors and adopting preventive measures are essential for a healthy life.

‎Stroke is a very serious medical condition, but with correct information, timely precautions, and a healthy lifestyle, it can be largely prevented.

‎Regular check ups, a balanced diet, physical activity, avoidance of tobacco and alcohol, and mental well-being together can lead you toward a safe and healthy life.
