Chhattisgarh, India — A woman in Jashpur district allegedly killed her husband with a hammer following a heated dispute, Indian media reported on Friday.
According to the reports, the woman — identified as Mangrita, who had recently returned from Mumbai — attacked her husband, Santosh Bhagat, during an argument. Police said the confrontation escalated, prompting her to strike him repeatedly with a hammer, resulting in his death.
Investigators revealed that after the killing, the suspect wrapped the body in a blanket, placed it inside a suitcase, and then called her married daughter to confess the crime. Shocked by the call, the daughter rushed to the house and later informed police.
Upon reaching the residence, police recovered the body from the suitcase. Officers stated that visible injury marks were present on the victim’s face and hands.
Authorities have registered a murder case based on a complaint filed by the victim’s brother. Police added that the suspect fled to Mumbai after committing the crime, and efforts are underway to locate and arrest her.
