MUMBAI — Indian superstar Yash and co-star Kiara Advani have officially locked in a new worldwide theatrical release date for their highly anticipated period gangster action-thriller, Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown-Ups, following a series of production delays.
Taking to Instagram on Sunday, June 21, 2026, the 40-year-old KGF star shared a fresh promotional poster for the film with the caption, “Honour Thy Father… #Toxic In Cinemas Worldwide from 26-08-2026.” Advani mirrored the announcement on her Instagram Stories, sharing the same artwork alongside the text, “26.08.26. See you in cinemas.”
The definitive late-August rollout marks the third rescheduling attempt by the film’s producers, a move that looks to finally pacify fans left frustrated by prior calendar shifts. The cinematic project was originally slated to storm box offices on March 19, 2026. However, on March 4, production executives pulled the initial date, resetting the premiere for June 4. The timeline fractured further on April 29 when the makers announced an indefinite postponement without providing a replacement date, citing creative and structural adjustments.
Directed by acclaimed filmmaker Geethu Mohandas, Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown-Ups pivots away from conventional cartel dramas. According to its official synopsis, the plot is set in a bygone era and unfolds within the coastal paradise of Goa, exposing a powerful, ruthless drug syndicate pulling the strings behind a deceptive facade of sun-soaked beaches and vibrant local culture. Backing the high-octane narrative is an expansive pan-Indian ensemble cast that features Yash and Kiara Advani alongside Nayanthara, Huma Qureshi, Tara Sutaria, Akshay Oberoi, and Amit Tiwari.
