99% of Heart Attack and Stroke Cases Can Be Prevented: Study

‎A unique study has revealed that 99% of severe diseases such as stroke and heart attack can be prevented through precaution and treatment.

‎According to a medical website, research conducted in the United States and South Korea found that most individuals who suffer from heart attacks and strokes develop such conditions due to negligence. If proper precautions are taken, 99% of people can lead a healthy life.

‎Health experts believe that 85% of deaths caused by heart diseases result from heart attacks and strokes, and over 60 million people worldwide suffer from heart failure each year.

‎Previous studies have already shown that quitting smoking, avoiding obesity, controlling high blood pressure and high cholesterol, refraining from alcohol consumption, avoiding unhealthy foods (especially processed foods), and abandoning a sedentary lifestyle can reduce the risk of heart disease.

‎Similarly, a new study conducted on more than 9,000 adults found that over 99% of people who suffered from heart failure or stroke had at least one of four risk factors, and these risks could have been eliminated through preventive measures and early treatment.

‎According to experts, most individuals who suffer from heart attacks and strokes face risks associated with high blood pressure, high cholesterol, high blood sugar, and smoking.

‎Researchers examined the medical data of over 9 million adults from South Korea and about 7,000 adults from the United States, monitoring them for 20 years. During this period, the effects of blood pressure, cholesterol, glucose levels, and smoking were analyzed.

‎Experts noted that most people who experienced heart attacks and strokes were affected by high blood pressure, cholesterol, and diabetes; however, these medical conditions can be managed through prevention and treatment — but unfortunately, people often ignore them.

‎Researchers stated that while these risk factors can be modified, genetic or other factors such as C-reactive protein cannot be changed.

‎Experts concluded that controlling factors such as high blood pressure, cholesterol, and blood sugar can help prevent heart diseases.

‎They added that high blood pressure is easily detectable, but since it shows no symptoms, it is often ignored. Therefore, it is essential to identify and treat it in time.
