LAHORE/VEHARI: Two suspected dacoits were killed during a police encounter in Lahore’s Factory Area on Friday, while eight more were gunned down in separate shootouts in Vehari and Arifwala.

In Lahore, the Crime Control Department (CCD) team of Defence Police Station was escorting two suspects — Moon and Hafeez — for recovery when their accomplices ambushed the police near Walton Road. During the exchange of fire, both accused were fatally shot by the firing of their own associates. Their bodies were later shifted to the General Hospital mortuary.

In Vehari, one dacoit was killed and a policeman, identified as Ali Imam, sustained injuries during a gun battle near village 423-EB. The injured officer was shifted to Tehsil Headquarters (THQ) Hospital, Burewala, while police launched a search operation to apprehend the fleeing suspects.

Separately, four members of the notorious Phakkiwas gang, allegedly involved in multiple heinous crimes including murder, attempted murder, and armed robberies, were killed in a fierce encounter with CCD personnel in Vehari. Acting on intelligence, the police raided their hideout, prompting heavy firing from the suspects before they were neutralized.

Meanwhile, in Arifwala, police gunned down four more dacoits during another armed clash, bringing the total number of outlaws killed in these encounters to eight within 24 hours.
