Experts have created the world’s first smartphone test capable of diagnosing type 2 diabetes in less than 10 minutes.
Cumbria and the North East of England NHS Trusts are the first organizations to provide patients access to the Diabetes Health Check app, while a nationwide rollout is planned by the end of this year.
According to PocDoc, the company that developed the app, the test will save the NHS billions of pounds.
This new test will bring revolutionary changes to the treatment of this chronic disease, which costs the NHS £8.8 billion annually.
PocDoc CEO Steve Roest stated that screening for type 2 diabetes risks through a smartphone app is something that has never been done before.
