ATC Denies Extension of Sher Shah’s Physical Remand, Orders 14-Day Judicial Custody in Jinnah House Attack Case

LAHORE, August 28, 2025 — An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Lahore on Thursday rejected the police’s plea to extend Sher Shah’s physical remand in the Jinnah House attack investigation and instead placed him under 14-day judicial custody.

On Saturday, law enforcement officers produced Sher Shah—nephew of former prime minister and PTI founder Imran Khan—before ATC Judge Manzar Ali Gill under heavy security. Earlier, the court had granted a five-day physical remand at the police’s request.

During Thursday’s proceedings, the investigating officer informed the bench that video evidence confirmed Sher Shah’s presence at the scene of the attack.

Defence counsel Barrister Salman Akram Raja challenged the arrest, noting that Sher Shah was detained 27 months after the incident. He warned that such delayed apprehensions have previously led courts to discharge suspects, cautioning, “If this trend continues, many more will evade justice.”
