Malakand — August 16, 2025:
In a shocking incident late Saturday night, gunmen opened fire at the residence of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F) leader Mufti Kifayatullah in Malakand, leaving two members of his family dead and several others injured.

According to initial reports, Mufti Kifayatullah sustained injuries during the attack, while his wife was also wounded. Tragically, his son and daughter lost their lives on the spot due to multiple gunshot wounds. The injured were rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors confirmed the fatalities and stated that both Mufti Kifayatullah and his wife are in stable condition after treatment.

Law enforcement agencies reached the site immediately after the incident and cordoned off the area. Police sources confirmed that an investigation has been launched to determine the motive and identify the attackers. Security forces are also conducting a search operation in the surrounding areas.

Political leaders across the country expressed grief and condemned the attack. JUI-F representatives described the incident as a “cowardly act of terrorism” and demanded immediate action against those responsible. Social media was flooded with messages of condolences, with many urging the government to ensure protection for political and religious leaders.

Mufti Kifayatullah, a senior figure in JUI-F, has been an outspoken political voice and has survived previous threats in the past. His party has called for peaceful protests and prayers for the victims.

The situation in Malakand remains tense as authorities increase security measures to prevent further violence.
