The Ministry of Health has issued an emergency health advisory warning of possible outbreaks of various diseases following the floods, including cholera, typhoid, and diarrheal illnesses.

‎According to the advisory, stagnant floodwater in affected areas could also lead to the spread of dengue, chikungunya, and malaria.

‎The advisory further urged citizens to adopt precautionary measures to protect themselves from these diseases.

‎Meanwhile, the World Health Organization (WHO) has also expressed concern about a rise in epidemics in Pakistan due to the floods, noting that dengue cases have increased by 41 percent and malaria cases by 26 percent.

‎The report highlighted that cholera is spreading in Balochistan and Sindh, while in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa cases of scabies, skin diseases, and snake and dog bites have increased.

‎WHO warned that if immediate measures are not taken, Pakistan’s healthcare system could collapse under the burden of epidemics.
