Real Goal Is Asia Cup Wasim Akram Invites Pakistan To Dream Big, Not Just India Win

Legendary fast bowler Wasim Akram has called on Pakistan to keep their eyes on the bigger prize — the Asia Cup 2025 title — instead of getting carried away with the hype of their clash against India.

Speaking ahead of Pakistan’s high-voltage campaign, Akram stressed that while the rivalry with India always grabs headlines, true success lies in lifting the trophy.

> “The real goal is the Asia Cup, not just one match. Even if you lose a game but go on to win the tournament, that’s what really matters,” Akram said.

He advised Babar Azam’s men to ignore the outside noise and pressure from fans and media, and instead focus on consistency across the competition.

> “Crowds, hype, pressure — these will always be there. As players, you’ve got to enjoy the moment, play your natural game, and not let one result define your campaign,” he added.

Akram also reminded the squad of their recent form, noting Pakistan’s tri-series win against Afghanistan and UAE as a confidence booster heading into the Asia Cup. At the same time, he warned against complacency and urged the team to stay grounded.

The former captain, who has himself played and thrived in countless Indo-Pak encounters, said the players should cherish the opportunity rather than fear it.

> “I performed my best when the pressure was highest. These occasions are made for players to step up. Pakistan has the talent; now it’s about temperament and keeping focus on the trophy,” Akram explained.

As the Asia Cup heats up, his message is clear: don’t let one match overshadow the bigger dream of lifting the silverware.
