The Joint Investigation Team (JIT) probing the death of Mir Raza Ali has formally summoned his family to appear for a meeting on November 7. This development marks a shift in the investigation, shifting focus toward direct testimony from those closest to the deceased.

The summons follows weeks of mounting pressure from activists and the family, who have consistently alleged foul play. Investigators now intend to record formal statements and review evidence the family claims to have gathered independently.

For the investigators, the meeting is a procedural necessity to bridge gaps in the case file. For the family, it is the first real opportunity to present their concerns directly to the panel tasked with determining how Ali died.

The JIT—which has faced scrutiny over the pace of its progress—needs this session to move beyond preliminary findings. Sources close to the investigation suggest that the team is under strict instructions to finalize its report before year-end. Whether this meeting yields actionable leads or further complicates the narrative remains the primary question.

The family’s legal team has signaled they will arrive with documentation that contradicts the initial reports filed by local authorities. If the JIT accepts these documents as part of the official record, the investigation’s trajectory could change overnight.

The meeting is scheduled for mid-morning at the provincial headquarters. The family expects a transparent process, but given the procedural hurdles seen in similar high-profile cases, they remain cautious.

“We are going because we have to,” a family representative told reporters late Wednesday. “But we are under no illusions about how difficult it will be to get the truth on paper.”

The JIT has yet to comment on whether they will expand the scope of the investigation following the testimony. For now, the November 7 date stands as the most critical point in the case to date.
